Studies
Study tribal-state issues, including government-to-government relations, human services, education, corrections, and issues related to the promotion of economic development. (NDCC § 54-35-23)
(1563 § 1) Consider studying tribal land taxation issues related to taxation of land owned by enrolled tribal members who reside within the boundaries of any tribal reservation in this state. The study may include analysis of federal law, judicial decisions concerning tribal taxation authority, state property tax exemptions related to property of Native Americans, and the interaction between tribal sovereignty and state law.
Reports
Receive a report from the Department of Commerce regarding the distribution, use, and impact of tribal tourism grants. (2025 House Bill No. 1581 § 1)
Receive a report from the Governor describing the negotiations and terms of any agreement between the Governor and the Three Affiliated Tribes of the Fort Berthold Reservation relating to taxation and regulation of oil and gas exploration and production within the boundaries of the Fort Berthold Reservation and thereafter receive a biennial report describing the agreement's implementation and any difficulties in its implementation.
