Summary of Work
This position performs information technology desktop, mobile device, audio/video, business application administration, support, and training for the legislative branch.
This position’s day to day duties include supporting large user base consisting of staff and legislators, troubleshooting multiple device issues at the same time, installation, maintenance, and technical support for systems (desktop, mobile devices, Microsoft Windows, Apple iOS, audio/video, MFPs) and the applications that run on those systems. Support is provided both onsite and remotely.
Duties and Tasks
- Install and configure desktop operating systems and application software, hardware, and peripherals.
- Provide telephone or remote support for desktop and mobile devices.
- Troubleshoot, research, analyze, document, and resolve hardware and software technical problems.
- Support all audio/video functions for legislative proceedings, including in-room audio video functions and equipment, live streaming, archiving, and indexing. Travel as needed to support remote meetings.
- Develop and maintain training courses for supported business applications.
- Assist in determining required hardware and software upgrade requirements, analyzing impact of functionality changes, availability, security, and business continuity requirements.
- Research new technologies; evaluate alternatives to determine impact on services and feasibility of implementation or migration; make recommendations on potential applications to integrate with or replace existing technologies.
- Perform other duties as directed by the Information Technology Director of the Legislative Council
Essential Skills and Abilities
- Lift, transport, install and configure computer systems, hardware and peripherals.
- Develop, train, and mentor IT team members, Legislative Council and Assembly staff on information technology systems and hardware.
- Ability to remain objective, nonpartisan, and professional regarding all legislative matters.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing.
- Ability to travel and work at sites away from the office as required.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Associate's degree in Computer Information Systems, Computer Science, or computer-related field.
