1013 § 16 Study the state's elementary and secondary education system, including key measurements of student progress, programs that address the state's competitiveness with other states, costs incurred by the state relating to implementing the No Child Left Behind Act, and the most effective means of using taxpayer dollars at the state and local levels to ensure the best possible education for the children of this state

Receive from the Superintendent of Public Instruction the compilation of test scores of a test aligned to the state content standards in reading and mathematics, given annually to students in three grades statewide (NDCC § 15.1-21-10)
Receive report from a representative of the State Board of Higher Education periodically during the 2005-06 interim on the status of the board’s review of the long-term finance plan (2005 S.L., ch. 31, § 17)
Receive report from the Superintendent of Public Instruction regarding notices received from school boards that vote not to use 70 percent of new moneys received during the 2005-07 biennium for the purpose of increasing compensation paid to teachers or providing compensation to teachers beginning employment after June 30, 2005 (2005 S.L., ch. 167, § 30)
